As CCG continues to expand and evolve, the company is showcasing its commitment to employee diversity through new language programs. By partnering with the Language Institute of West Caldwell, CCG is fostering more effective communication between team members, engaging employees in a professional development environment, and displaying its adaptability towards an ever-changing and more diverse workforce. The ten-week program, proposed by VP of Warehouse and Production Operations, Mike Petrullo, consists of both weekly Spanish to English and English to Spanish classes, with a customized curriculum to suit the needs of CCG employees that are pursuing further development towards personal and professional goals. These beginner courses introduce basic vocabulary words, sentence structures, and terms often used in the workplace.
“The program’s objective is to increase our communication more effectively across the business and develop stronger relationships between our team members,” stated Tara McEntee, CCG’s Chief People Officer. “People are our most valuable asset; we absolutely want to invest in them.” With 56% of CCG’s employees being of Hispanic or Latino descent, this is an exceptionally important initiative for the company.
According to Forbes Insight, “A diverse and inclusive workforce is necessary to drive innovation, foster creativity, and guide business strategies.” Understanding the necessity of diversity in the workplace becomes significant in boosting productivity by cultivating new ideas and strategies for companies world-wide. New programs bring people of various backgrounds together, where different experiences and perspectives can assist in strategizing preventable mistakes for organizations in a culturally sensitive economy.
CCG continues to pave the way for businesses to adapt their workplace to fit the needs of an increasingly diverse workforce. “To see so many individuals who are part of the CCG family willing to commit to learning one another’s languages is remarkable…I love that we have an equal number of people learning English as we do Spanish. It truly embodies 3 of CCG’s most important core skill sets, specifically—communicate to be understood, be curious, and take initiative,” said Simon Hooks, CEO. This partnership conveys CCG’s appreciation of its diversity while building a strong sense of team and community.
